VKernel Expands Management Team to Support International, Government and Channel Growth
Andover, MA (PRWEB) November 16, 2010
VKernel, (http://www.vkernel.com) the number-one provider of capacity management products for virtualized data centers, today announced the expansion of the management team to support continued international, federal government, and channel partner growth. Joining VKernel is industry veteran Tom O’Connell who will serve as Executive Vice President of Customer Operations.
In Q3, VKernel reported record results with 3x customer bookings growth over the same period in 2009. New products, a Best of VMworld award in the virtualization management category, expanded Microsoft support and larger enterprise customers all contributed to this organic growth. To further accelerate expansion, VKernel will be ramping up international operations, federal government sales, and a channel partner program. Tom will be leading these efforts as Executive Vice President of Customer Operations managing all sales, support and sales engineering operations worldwide. Tom is the second key executive addition to VKernel this year following Bryan Semple’s appointment as Chief Marketing Officer.
Tom joins VKernel from Vertica Systems where he was responsible for worldwide sales for the past three years. Under Tom’s leadership, Vertica sales grew more than 7X and emerged as a leading software vendor in the analytic database management market. Prior to Vertica, Tom was the President and a member of the Board of Directors of XOsoft, Inc which was acquired by CA Technologies, Inc. During his tenure at XOsoft, the company averaged 25% revenue growth for 16 consecutive quarters and exceeded 2,500 customers. Before XOsoft, Tom held executive positions at leading high tech companies such as Exchange Applications (acquired by Amdocs), Sybase, Inc. and Oracle Corporation.
“I’m excited to join the VKernel team and contribute to the growth and success of both the company and our customers,” said O’Connell. “As companies look to virtualize more mission critical applications, the need for true capacity management will only increase. I look forward to leveraging my experience with other high growth organizations to meet the demands of a company in hyper growth.”
“Tom is a critical addition to the management team,” said Doug McNary, CEO, VKernel. “Hitting our aggressive growth objectives next year will require expansion into previously untapped markets. Tom has the right mix of experience to enable us to over achieve these objectives.”
